2011 May Biltmore Endurance Race
Mountain biked all over the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina taking pictures of the endurance race going on there. I was home before I realized that I did not take even one picture of the Biltmore house, and I've never been there before. Oh well. There were more beautiful things to shoot, like these horses. Enjoy!
Technicalities: The far off shots with the French Broad River in the background are best viewed in the X3 Large view and to see the riders close-up, you need to view them in Original size & scroll to the details. I was probably about 1/2 mile away using a 70-200mm zoom. Most of the shots are taken at 200mm until late in the day when the light was dying, some of those are at 70mm. I kept waiting for friends to pass, so I sat there squeezing every speck of light out of the sky that I could. The last few pictures, taken at around 8:15 pm, are cranked up at 3200 ISO. I didn't have a tripod with me, so all of them are handheld.
